Presentation at the webinar series "Sharing City Gothenburg"

Sharing and the City researcher Yuliya Voytenko Palgan was invited by the City of Gothenburg to present her research on “Municipal Governance of the Sharing Economy: Local and Global Insights” at the webinar series “Sharing City Gothenburg” on 6 May, 2021. The webinar was organised by the City of Gothenburg in the framework of the Sharing Cities Sweden innovation programme, and it was primarily targeted at politicians and government officials. Yuliya presented her research with a special focus on Gothenburg, and provided a comparison between Gothenburg and seven other cities including Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Malmö, San Francisco, Shanghai and Toronto. She emphasised that municipalities have a very important role in creating both infrastructure and culture in the city so that the circular and the sharing economy can grow and become institutionalised.

Yuliya’s full presentation can be viewed in the video below. Her presentation received much interest from the audience, and Yuliya’s research was featured in several social media and blog posts after the webinar. For example, see the blogpost by Christer Owe “Circular economy: Gothenburg takes the lead in the sharing economy”.
