Yuliya Voytenko Palgan together with Urban Sharing researchers Oksana Mont and Lucie Zvolska participated in the launch of the Handbook of the Sharing Economy, which took place in London, UK, on 25th of October 2019. The Handbook explores the nature and direction of the sharing economy, interrogating its key dynamics and evolution over the past decade and critiquing its effect on society. Yuliya, Oksana and Lucie contributed with a book chapter How Sharing Economy Organizations and City Governments Engage in Institutional Work and How This Shapes Sustainability. They participated in the plenary discussion of their book chapter. They talked about how different cities embrace or restrain the sharing economy, in which ways they are similar and in which ways they differ, how sharing economy organisations engage in the institutional work to make their services known, recognised and used, as well as how municipalities govern the sharing economy, and how municipal engagement with the sharing economy connects to municipal goals and agendas for sustainability.
